Important safety information

Sermorelin Injection

Common Side Effects

  • Injection site tenderness, redness, or swelling
  • Headache or facial flushing
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Transient fatigue

Many symptoms are mild and short-lived when dosing follows your prescription and pharmacy instructions. Rotate injection sites to reduce irritation; contact your clinician if irritation persists or worsens.

More Serious Side Effects (less common)

  • Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)
  • Marked changes in vision, severe headache, or neurologic symptoms that could indicate elevated intracranial pressure—seek urgent care.
  • New or unexplained numbness or tingling in the hands (possible nerve tunnel symptoms)
  • Swelling of the ankles or unexplained fluid retention

Stop treatment for concerning symptoms and contact your prescribing clinician or emergency services when appropriate.

Warnings (serious risks)

  • Sermorelin stimulates growth hormone release; clinicians evaluate cancer history and metabolic risk carefully before prescribing.
  • Long-term hormonal stimulation may affect glucose regulation—report increased thirst, polyuria, or unexpected weight change.
  • Uncontrolled thyroid disease should be stabilized and monitored closely because thyroid status can interact with growth hormone physiology.

Contraindications (not recommended for)

  • Known hypersensitivity to sermorelin or formulation components
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Active malignancy unless an oncologist and prescribing clinician jointly agree therapy is appropriate

Drug Interactions

  • Glucocorticoids may blunt responsiveness to sermorelin; doses may need reconciliation with your clinician.
  • Thyroid replacement and other hormonal therapies may require monitoring or adjustments.
  • Disclose insulin, oral hypoglycemic agents, and all supplements—growth hormone physiology can alter glucose homeostasis.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Sermorelin is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation owing to inadequate safety documentation. Discuss family planning priorities with your provider before initiating or continuing therapy.

Storage

  • Refrigerate at 2–8°C (36–46°F) unless your pharmacist instructs otherwise.
  • Protect vials from light; do not freeze unless specifically directed.
  • Use only within the labeled beyond-use dating supplied by your compounding pharmacy.

Keep out of reach of children. Do not reuse needles or syringes.

Have Questions?

Your prescribing clinician remains the authoritative source on whether sermorelin is appropriate, how doses may change, and how to manage side effects. Do not escalate dose or injection frequency without written medical guidance.
